India Permanent Account Number (IN-PAN)

Description

PAN is a ten-character alpha-numeric identifier assigned automatically at the time of creation/incorporation to individuals and entities for tax purposes in India. PANs are administered by India's Income Tax Department. It is a permanent, stable identification number and does not change. Notably the fourth character is a letter denoting the legal structure of the holder.

Online lookup is available for holders (https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/pre-login/verifyYourPAN) but not publically available, requiring Name, Date of Birth and Mobile Number alongside PAN to search.
